Editorial Reviews: Petronas Towers (World`s No.2 tallest building, completed in 1997). Twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that are the world`s tallest twin towers. Standing 1,483 ft (452 m) high, they were designed by the Argentinean-American architect Cesar Pelli. Completed in 1997. The 88-floor towers constructed of largely reinforced concrete with a steel and glass facade were designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia`s Muslim heritage. Because of the depth of the bedrock the buildings were built on the world`s deepest foundation going down some 120 meters.
