This package contains a set of fired ceramic pieces depicting nomadic life (i.e. gers/yurts/felt tents, camels, horses, Mongolian), a handmade yak felt board, and two end tubes. The yak felt board and the chess pieces pack up nicely; as the chess board can be rolled up, the piece placed inside the roll, and the two end caps fit on either end making these chess set travel ready. The chess set's pattern is produced by having a hot iron sear the distinctive patterns onto the yak felt. This set is highly durable and will last many, many years. The chess sets themselves are quite the rarity as they are individually handmade and are directly imported from Mongolia to the United States. Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: WOW FANTASTIC CHESS SET Comment: This is a great chess set with amazing detail in both the chess board and the pieces. I saw this first in Neiman Marcus last winter (they were a jumbo 25 in set), but it was so so expensive. Its nice to see some of these pieces come down in price. Beautiful piece that is quite a conversation piece when people come over. We've had this for about 6 months, and the yak wool board can be rolled up and fitted in the tube for travel. As you use the set, it develops a nice worn in feel. Grandkids love it. We are going to get a couple of these grandkid's presents. More Reviews
