The lustrous black finish on which the design has been hand-etched is produced through the application of seven layers of lacquer followed by a two-month drying process, achieving a rich shine. Lacquerware is created by applying the black resin of the "Lak" tree onto smoothly carved wood to give it a fine finish. The bottom of the holder slides out for easy tissue replacement.
