Customer Rating: Summary: poor design, poor workmanship Comment: Poor design (no display, have to go through songs in sequential order they are loaded onto the device), battery didn't keep its power, it died after 3 months. Huge waste of money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Still going strong after two years Comment: I have owned this MP3 player for a little over two years now. From May to October I use it four or five times a week for swimming laps in a chlorinated pool for 1 to 2 hours. I rinse all the parts under running tap water after each swim and haven't had any problems with the unit so far.
The only little quirk it developed all of a sudden last year is that there now is a delay of approximately 5 to 10 seconds between the time the ON button is pressed and the time the unit comes on. It always does come on without fail, though.
Customer Rating: Summary: Problems with the volume and stereo Comment: I bought this to use while swimming laps. The volume and the stereo keep dropping out. Half way through my swim, I can barely hear out of one ear bud. I was constantly trying to re-adjust to hear the music. It was very annoying. I rarely use it now. If I become a regular at the pool again, I would probably look for a better product to keep me company.
Customer Rating: Summary: No quality Comment: There is no quality on this mp3. When it arrived, just looking on it's structure and headphone you can have a bad impression. After 4 or 5 times used, it stopped to work. No sound at all in or out of the watter. Waste of money, but maybe the problem is that I used it out of the water!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great product and EXCELLENT service! Comment: If you know going in that this player has minimal extra features, it's a perfect and affordable cure for boredom while lap swimming. As long as you put the earphones before submerging, the sound is surprisingly clear. The player is light enough that you'll barely notice it and I had no problem keeping the earphones on.
As for the bad service experiences listed above, I can only say that mine was the exact opposite. After a few uses, one side of the earbuds went almost silent and remained so later into the day. I called the support number on Freestyle's site fully expecting the runaround from someone who'd tell me to repackage and return the whole thing to Amazon for an exchange. Instead, I got right through to a representative who took my address and offered to send a new pair at no charge!
The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is a couple simple changes I'd make: 1) It needs a pressure clip for attaching to your swimsuit waistband. With all that technology, how hard would it be to affix one little piece of plastic on the back? As it is, I'll probably glue something on there to do the trick. 2) The earphone cords could be a bit longer. I'm 6'3" and, with the phones in, the player barely reaches my waist. I suppose that's better than having excess wire dragging as you swim, but another 3" on the line would be perfect.
