From the supplier: The financial crisis in Asia presents attractive opportunities for foreign corporations to invest in the region. Assets in South Korea and Southeast Asia can be purchased at amounts way below their reproduction costs due to the sharp decline in the currencies of these nations. Most Asian countries are easing restrictions on foreign purchases of domestic assets and securities to generate equity. At the same time, the region has become more accessible to foreign capital because of the need to deleverage banks and firms. Although these steps will put Asia on the road to economic recovery and stability, the process will take quite take some time. The challenge for foreign investors is to minimize profit declines caused by instability in the foreign exchange and asset markets.
