Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Abacus Comment: I purchased a Chinese Abacus just for fun, which is exactly what Paul Green's book "How to Use A Chinese Abacus" has made the experience. It's great for mental exercises and very easy to use, if you have the above book. Buy them both! Our kids, as young as five, are learning to use the Abacus as well. It makes teaching number placement so much easier than anything I've tried. Customer Rating: Summary: Great product Comment: I found this to be very well made and easy to use. It is also nice to look at so I don't mind leaving it on my coffee table when company is over. It is actually a great conversation piece. Customer Rating: Summary: Functional but not something to show off Comment: While it functions perfectly as an abacus, it does not look or feel that great. The workmanship is not very good either. A bead crumbled on me and the frame was not squared away. In addition, the backside of the abacus is rough. Two stickers are adhered to it and they leave a residue when you take them off as well. Also, don't get this thing wet as it will bleed red and black ink, or a mixture thereof, and cause the beads to fall apart. The lacquer, if you can call it that, does not provide very good protection against moisture. I would save your money for a more robust and well-made piece. More Reviews
