Customer Rating: Summary: Hours of 2-player fun when on the go Comment: We (wife and me) were on the lookout for 2 person games we could play to pass time in flights, while on the go or when on weekend trips. We reseached a lot and narrowed down out choice to Lost Cities and Jambo, and finally picked this one for its lack of small pieces. The games is small, light, requires little setup and completes in as little as 45 mins. The components being cards are fairly durable and the space required to lay isn't much - we played on the food trays in flights. Introduced this to my parents (it was their first board game as such) and they are hooked onto it, so we got one for them too. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: 2 players game award of the year is for something. Comment: The game is very simple and yet very good. Is very fast to play and very easy to setup, and pack up.
The only not so good thing is that the game is so simple that you will feel that maybe you could have just got the rules and played this game with home made cards or something similar.
The truth is that, maybe because this same reason, the game is also visually beautiful. The cards are simply very beautiful and it even comes with a 'board' that you could do without, but you will not if you have it.
All in all I don't regret having bought this game. Is one of those geniuses ideas that you feel is worth supporting.
Is very hard to find 2 players games. (It's easy to play a lot of many-players-games with only 2, but you always feel it is not so good as when with more people). And this one is specifically designed for the mechanics of the balance between two opponents.
Anyways, it could be played in teams, but for that you need to buy two sets.
Since for the 4 players - 2 teams game only a couple of extra cards are needed, I would really like if Rio Grande / Kosmos (or whoever) sold a cheaper "4 players expansion". That I would buy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great 2-player game, perfect for travel Comment: Lost Cities is a wonderful strategy card game for two players you'll find yourself playing again and again. It's a deck of cards and a small board, but you don't need the board to play the game, so we just bring the cards along and it's a perfect travel game. The rules are very simple, but the more you play, the more you learn new strategies and approaches, so the game remains challenging at every hand.
This is one of the best two-player games we own. Most games are created for more players and so you lose part of the fun when there's only two of you. Lost Cities was designed for two players, so no aspect of the game is compromised or adapted.
The scoring isn't difficult but it does involve math, which actually makes it kind of educational. Overall I highly recommend Lost Cities, especially if you're looking for maximum two-player fun and portability.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great game for couples. Comment: I love board and/or card games but often have a hard time coaxing my wife into playing with me. I had read a few reviews of this game in other places and was convinced it was a game both my wife and I could enjoy. On the surface the game doesn't appear to have much depth, but after a few plays you'll begin to see strategies and depth. Sure, it relies on luck to a degree, but play 3-5 rounds and that can be balanced out so the person with the best skill comes out ahead. Anyway, I highly recommend this game for people who a.) love card games and b.) gamers who have a hard time getting their significant others to play games with them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Portable and fun Comment: We found this game a couple of years ago and it is one of the frequently "returned to" games in our collection. The kids like it because they can get adults to play - the rules are not so intricate that we refuse to play. Setup is quick; games are long enough to be interesting, but not too long to put off until "later".
