Editorial Reviews:

Make the most of your microwave's ability to pop corn with this special bowl and base. You'll find the corn pops faster and there are far fewer "old maids" left in the bottom.

Summary: No Air Popper!
Comment: I wanted this for air popping. With the metal base attached and with or without the cardboard liner, this popper consistantly burned the popcorn. One time the popped corn caught fire! I guess it is only designed for use with a little oil, but that's not I wanted it for. I use the clear plastic bowl now, but the metal base went into the recycle bin!

Summary: Fabulous Corn Popper!
Comment: I used to use the Nordic Ware 12-Cup Microwaver Corn Popper. I thought that I was happy with it - unil I received my Presto multi-popper. I pop popcorn frequently; I've used this product several times since I received it about a week ago. The popcorn tastes great and nearly every kernal pops. The seasons even seem to 'stick' to the popcorn better mmmmm.... flavor!

This suits me because I eat popcorn for a light, high fiber 'gourmet' snack that I can try with different oils and seasoning. I like popping it myself better than bagged because I can use Splenda to make kettle corn flavored popcorn and a medium amount of oil rather than either extreme. If I save money too, this is an added bonus. That said, I checked eBay prices before buying the popper and found that I can buy concentrators by the case really cheap, so it's no biggie for me. As an added benefit, my Presto popper cooks popcorn in 1 minute less than my Nordic.

If you're looking for -quality- popcorn and don't mind replacing the concentrators when they turn brown (after 2 to 4 batches), then go with this one. If you hate the idea of replacing the paper concentrators, then go with the Nordic Ware container (available also at Target and Wal-Mart stores). I think I'd only go back to the Nordic if I ran out of the concentrators, but otherwise I personally have no use for my Nordic anymore.

Some reviewers reported microwave problems. The paper concentrators do have technology of some sort in them, so press them fully in place before microwaving and replace them whenever they look brown. Mine is buried under popcorn oil and 1/3 cup of kernals. I have a 1000 watt microwave with a turntable. I'm currently using a new bag of yellow popcorn. I heat it for 2 min and 30 sec on high (as compared to 3 minutes 40 sec with the Nordic). I'm also careful about removing any traces of oil as the instructions advise. I'm guessing this has to do with the way it heats. I haven't had any problems; in fact I get -perfect- popcorn each time. I'm not sure what was different for those who had problems.

As advice, keep in mind that this popper is different in how it uses heat. As the directions say, when the popping slows down to 3 seconds between pops - stop! Kernals continue to pop after the microwave stops, don't wait until the popcorn stops popping. Don't use the microwave setting for popcorn. It does hold heat, so sometimes I'll dump the kernals into another bowl to release the heat and stop the cooking process. If I want the popcorn to stay warm longer, I'll leave it there until I'm ready to eat. This is really an impressive piece of technology.

Summary: Makes the best tasting, healthy popcorn with macadamia oil
Comment: I looked all over for a microwave popcorn maker so I could use my own healthy macadamia oil including flavored Haleiwa Heat and Garlic Isle. This was the perfect solution. Last year I found it at the local Walmart and bought every one off the shelf and all the powercup concentrators at 2 stores to give as gifts (along with macadamia oil). I would have given it 5 stars except that now I'm looking for more powercup concentrators. Hope it's on the next boat to Hawaii. I listen as it pops every kernel for a fiber rich snack for my family.

Summary: Had it for years but grew tired of having to find the trays.
Comment: I've had this for years and it works well. The trays are becoming more difficult to find locally, WalMart doesn't even have them, so we ordered another brand that doesn't use them.

Summary: best microwave popper
Comment: I received this popcorn maker as a gift. I LOVE IT...it is the easiest and fastest way to eat popcorn without all the extra additives from the microwave bag type. You can add your own amount of salt and butter if you want, but plain is great too. Easy popping without any kernals left at the bottom, just make sure you adjust your time on your microwave so it doesn't burn. You must get this .... you won't be sorry.
