Customer Rating: Summary: A Must Read Comment: Silent Tears is a story crying to be heard. With 5 children at home, I found myself staying up late after the children went to bed to be able to finish reading it. I think Kay's experiences provide invaluable insight for adoptive parents and people with a heart for orphans. I appreciate her transparency as she shares how overwhelming her own emotions could be when spending so much time with children in a seemingly hopeless environment. Her story is a call to action for more people to become involved in caring for orphans. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Read !!! Comment: Once I started this book I couldnt put it down until the last 50 pages at which time I didnt want the book to end so I put off reading it... Its hard to imagine the lives these children lead everyday... Its great that there are volunteers that come in and help with the children... And one of them gave us a birds eye view of exactly whats it like...Hopefully, the Chinese goverment will do something to improve the lives of these children... Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointing Comment: The personal account is not very descriptive nor provides any imagery to the reader. Even the facts are thin and the writing style is dull. There is nothing new that I have gained from reading this book. I wish I had read a page of this book before purchasing it as it would be a pretty good picture of the entire book. Very easy to read but I cannot even put myself through to finish the book. This book is an account of the author's personal views and basic observations of her volunteer work. If you're looking for something more, don't waste your time with this. Customer Rating: Summary: Courageous Endeavor Comment: Thank you for writing this incredible book! When my book first arrived in the mail I left it sitting in my car, I was almost afraid to find out what was inside the book. As my courage mounted I moved the book into my room, but was still afraid of what I might discover. Finally I began to read, and did not stop until I was reading the last page. As I read this book there were tiny glimpses into what may have been my daughter's beginnings in China. I will always be grateful for Ms. Bratt's courage to share the ENTIRE story. Customer Rating: Summary: A glimpse into orphanage life Comment: This book reaffirmed what I had been feeling about my own daughters 19 months in an orphanage. Of course, we will never know for sure what really went on there; however, Kay Bratt's Silent Tears explained and validated some feelings, thoughts and some of my daughters behaviors. If you have adopted or are thinking of adopting, this is the book for you. I will pass it on to our family and friends so they can better understand our little princess!
