Periplus is a pioneer in mapping the cities and countries of Asia. Among its many "firsts" are maps of Phnom Penh and Angkor in Cambodia, Sarawak and Sabah in Malaysia, as well as the first map to cover all the major cities and tourist destinations in Vietnam. A dozen new titles are produced annually, and our goal is to publish accurate maps of every city and travel destination in the Asia Pacific region.

Customer Rating: Summary: As good as it gets! Comment: OK, it doesn't have your hotel marked on it. Nor is it likely to show the restaurant that your guide recommends. But it does have something that most of the other maps don't - street names in English and Chinese. Maps of Chinese cities are USELESS without this, and you will find that few, if any, of the popular tourist guides or maps of Chinese cities seem to have learned that simple fact. Or perhaps they are just too busy inserting those little symbols for hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites to bother making the map useful once you actually arrive in China.
I have lived in Shanghai for a year now and I still take this map with me anytime I go out to a place I haven't been before. It has gotten me to places I otherwise never would have found; it has helped me find my way back to subways when I've been lost; and I have also been able to use it with taxi drivers (who don't speak a word of English) to show them where I want to go. My mantra has become: "Don't leave home without it!"
For what it's worth, this map has made me a fan of Periplus Maps. Customer Rating: Summary: Pudong and Suzhou are actually on this map! Comment: This is perhaps not a map for tourists seeing the sights, but there are lots of those maps out on the market. What is missing are maps for those of us moving to Shanghai or working at various sights in Shanghai that are NOT in Puxi.
This map is the best one I have found for people that are moving to Shanghai. There is even a separate Pudong map which goes all the way to the airport!
Also, it has insert maps of the larger Shanghai area , Suzhou, and Hangzhou.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good, differed a little in names Comment: Was a very good and helpful map. Could be better at including all hotels or the bigger named ones. I stayed in a 5 star hotel and it wasn't on the map. Good and useful though for Shanghai. Didn't use any of the other areas. Recommend for travelers not knowing anywhere around these cities.
